Stefanie Sacks, MS, CNS, CDN is a Culinary Nutritionist who works hands-on with individuals and groups in transition to a healthier way of eating as a food counselor, nutrition educator and chef instructor. She has been studying food and healing for 28 years, has her Masters of Science in nutrition from Columbia University, is a Certified Nutrition Specialist, Certified Dietitian Nutritionist and is a graduate of The Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and Culinary Arts. In 1999 she launched her private practice working one on one to help prevent illness and restore health through personalized nutrition therapy and culinary guidance.
In addition to her private practice, she is an adjunct professor in the graduate nutrition program at the University of Bridgeport. She also serves as a preceptor for Columbia University’s Dietetic Internship program. As a member of the nutrition faculty at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health and a frequent guest speaker at Donna Karan’s Urban Zen Center, various resort spas, wellness centers and schools around the country, Stefanie has the opportunity to inspire and be inspired. She recently joined forces with the United Nation’s Environmental Programme as an advisor on their global food waste campaign, Think. Eat. Save.
Her weekly blog Stirring the Pot has expanded to radio on WPPB 88.3 FM, Hamptons NPR. The show focuses on food, cooking, nutrition and health and features some of the hottest topics, amazing guest experts and interesting local people all sharing their knowledge, stories and passion about food.
Stefanie has contributed to three books including The Thriving Child by Erica Reid, Crazy Sexy Diet by Kris Carr and Power Up by Dr. Woodson Merrell and Kathy Merrell and is now busy working on a book of her own. She is a sought after guest expert on local and national programs including Dylan’s Lunchbox airing weekly on NYC Media TV, News 12 Long Island, Lunch NYC—Food for the Future, Discovery Health’s National Body Challenge and ABC News. Print and online media contributions are extensive from Harper’s Bazaar, O Magazine and Teen Vogue to The Huffington Post and Healthy Eats by The Food Network.
Sacks lives on the East End of Long Island with her husband, two very active young boys and Blossom, the family dog.
Harriett Levin Balkind
Harriett has been instrumental in guiding Stefanie’s brand and business development over the years. She orginally met with Stefanie for nutritional guidance and became a “believer” who wanted to spread the word. This began by asking Stefanie to be an expert on her blog, (Secrets) no one ever told you™, and as their friendship blossomed, Harriett began sharing advice she’d gained as a 25+ year partner in New York based Frankfurt Balkind, an award-winning brand strategy and communications agency purchased by Interpublic/Hill Holliday during 2002. Today Harriett is co-founder of Strat B, providing brand strategy, messaging and marketing communications for established companies, non-profits and start-ups. She also works strategically and creatively with Bemis Balkind, Los Angeles based entertainment marketing group, where she is a partner. Harriett serves on the board of Mother Jones magazine and the Industry Council of Eurica Media Lab. She has been published in industry publications such as Communication Arts, Graphic Design: USA, and Direct Marketing News. She has one son, Devin, an entrepreneur and founder of Sarap.is, focused on applying open source solutions to common challenges.
Jim has over 25 years experience in business development, strategic partnerships, IP licensing, media buying and selling, production and talent management. He helped develop, sell and launch such well known lifestyle video franchises as Martha Stewart Living TV, Bob Vila’s Home Again, Better Homes & Gardens TV and Ron Hazelton’s HouseCalls and working for and with such companies as CBS, GROUP W, Carolco Television, Meredith & AMEX Publishing as well as start ups like CBGB Holdings, SurveyUSA and Station Store. He joined forces with Stefanie in 2012 as her business manager and is the driving force behind her growing platform including radio, television and other media and business ventures. In addition, he is the executive producer of Stirring the Pot radio. Since 2005, Jim runs Kismet Media Group—a talent, brand and entertainment content management company which focuses on media strategy, business development, licensing and strategic partnerships. He earned a BA in Marketing & Communications from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
A native of Iceland, Geir began his career in radio where he produced, DJ’d and hosted his own radio show. While pursuing modeling and travelling worldwide, he picked up a camera and hasn’t put it down since. With a keen visual style and attention to detail, Geir’s work as a professional photographer lead to various projects in corporate video production, TV and film including ABC’s On the Red Carpet and The Saffron Limited based on The Gates exhibit by Christo and Jeanne-Claude. He also regularly shoots for Hamptons TV, The Hamptons Film Festival (HIFF) and many local real estate companies. He has worked for over a decade at East Hampton Studio as the Director of Operations and Production. Geir contributes his production talents to many of Stefanie’s projects including Stirring the Pot radio.
